I adopted Ted from Petco in Greenville, Texas on August 18th of 2015. I didn't plan on getting a hamster that day, but an employee let me hold him and I saw his eyes were matted shut. I didn't think anyone would adopt him because of his eyes being matted, so I just had to take him home with me. I picked up a cage, some food, and bedding and started toward the register. While I was at the register, I looked at him and saw both of his eyes were open and he was just fine. Little sneaky Ted tricked me, but it was perfectly okay! He was such a sweet boy, and I adored him. In November of 2016, I noticed what looked like a blood blister on his toe. I took him to the vet, and was told he had cancer. The vet gave him a month to live. He did not pass away until June 17th of this year (2017). Ted fought cancer for eight whole months! He was a happy boy and never showed any signs of discomfort. Most importantly, I had eight more fantastic months with him. I was fortunate enough to be able to hold him and love on him while he took his last breaths. He might have been just a hamster to some, but to me, he was family. He is survived by his two brothers: Armani and Otis (both dogs) and his two sisters: Tubby and Neko (both cats). I will never forget him waking me up in the middle of the night almost every night running in his squeaky wheel (that was his absolute fave), or him climbing on the wires of his cage like Spiderman to literally watch me get ready for work. Rest in Peace my sweet Ted
